What's my favourite hobby? Data science, not sleeping :)
Hi, thank you for taking time off to read this but I am going to cut straight to the point and talk about how I had some (I considered) major transform after just a few classes here.
Like many, I was a bit sceptical and didn’t want to pay for some courses that I thought I could manage to self-learn online/explore on my own. Before my first class of DC1001 (5th April 2019, 7pm) I had already taken a course for Python at school, that happened in the last semester. I managed to pass the course but got a very, very, very bad grade. I had some of the toughest time for both my mental health and academics in my very first semester at university. I was so devastated that I got to be like, oh, I passed the course, and I would not need Python anymore until at least when I got to deal with my final year project, I could finally escape from it! For some months I had been thinking like that, intrinsically an escapist, for some months before I met Data Bay Academy. After learning about the prospect of data science from Adriel and his team, I kind of wanted to seek ways to help myself with improving my concepts. Then because of some school activities, I took a trial class, which was the first lesson of DC1001 at school, before enrolling into the whole course. The instructor used a lot of analogies to explain concepts, and he almost did not skip any step, which made everything explained very clearly. I have always felt grateful for this, because I feel that the team understands how difficult it is for beginners to start learning programming. The courses are indeed well-designed for beginners as the class was small-sized and you can shamelessly ask questions when you need. Moreover, they offer the most-affordable prices (literally, most) for their high-quality courses, which makes them such great investments for especially students.
I found my pace back in DC1001, and I started to be more curious and hungrier for more. Therefore, I enrolled in some other one-day workshops, which were highly versatile because they deliver so many useful techniques about libraries and software in just 3 hours. I forgot to mention that I really like how they give practice-based classes, which are much different than my tutorials at school, where they allow you to practise yourself. This way they make sure that you are at the same page with everyone and you LEARN throughout the course. Remember when I mention I got so lazy because I want to escape? Somehow, I am now driven and motivated to learn more and oh, I got 2 jobs this summer, both data analytics related. 😊 Those aspects which need data science mentioned at the homepage are very accurate, I am a healthcare junkie, but I still find the courses highly versatile.
Last but not least, I thought they offer only one-off courses, but I learnt that they were building a community. I was working on some projects and encountered some difficulties, and the team was kind enough to offer help! I was a bit shocked and I was very grateful. Been having some amazing experience here, thank you for helping me find my passion!
What’s my favourite hobby? Perhaps data science, not sleeping. 😊
