Ever since I was young I had always wanted to come work in Tokyo. Nowhere else has such an impressive amount of technology packed into one place, and Japan has such a unique and fascinating culture, and it was always my dream to come here. When I had the chance to work for stoooc I jumped at it.
I worked remotely from America until I gradauted from my university. It was difficult sometimes because of the time difference, but the work was very rewarding. Once I had earned my Computer Science degree I came straight to Japan and began working for stoooc.
At stoooc we work very closely with the Evolab team in Vietnam. Usually this involves collaberating over Skype meetings, Trello, and other communication tools. However I was able to travel to Vietnam and work with our remote team together in the same place. It was a great experience, everyone could speak English, and the work environment was very friendly.
We build projects for all types of clients, so as a full-stack engineer I get to work in all areas of technology. Backend, frontend, web, infrastructure, etc. stoooc was the perfect place for an engineer looking to gain a wide variety of skills and experience. Everyone here in the Tokyo office has helped me a lot with learning more Japanese as well.
Whether working from Vietnam or Tokyo, it's always a great feeling when an app passes review and you can see everyone's hard work come together in the finished project, but that's not where it ends. After release there's still plenty of work left to do maintaining and updating the app, so there's never a dull moment at stoooc.
